unfocused.

powerhorn is a hard race.
almost too hard.

last year i couldn't finish, so i had two goals this year.
1. finish.
2. have a super start.

two for two. but it wasn't pretty.

i had a good start, and got in the mud in the top few spots. managed to hang out in the front group of 4 during the first two laps.

from then on out i was on damage control. trying to limit my losses.
after about a hundred more laps it was finally over, i had finished.

i even got to sprint it out at the line with some dude who oviously didn't know who he was messing with.

in related news;

somebody tell me why is mn cx not in the maxxis midwest cx cup?
we got an ok series right? seems organized...

and how come madison, chicago and iowa get on cyclocrossworld, but there's no mention of mcf events?

don't we pay a pr person/company?

If you'd spend less time asking relevant questions and more time wasting said time at MCF meetings, peace would prevail on earth and birds would sing and stuff.

Yeah, you should show up so you can sit through a meeting until your topic gets tabled. The PR person is an advisor but the promoters need to seek her advice, or simply submit their races to cyclocrossworld and other media themselves. BTW, if you guys do a 'cross race next year, I'd be happy to help out. There's so much room for growth, it could be the pimp-tastic race of the year...

i'm just saying, i don't think any of those cities/scenes have any more resources than we do, they just use them.

the shit is as easy as an email.

now before you get all, "you never promoted a race blah blah", let me state for the record;

"i am sure promoting is very stressful."

having said that, let me repeat:
the shit is as easy as an email.

if you can't find the time to send an email, you are doing something wrong.

i have promoted cycling events that had more participants, and as many sponsors as any cx race in mn. i know some of the hardships promoters see.

i managed to get the word out via the internet... and it wasn't hard.

it just sad when a bike messenger with a budget of my bank account (i.e. pennies), can do something a room full of people with 10k in the bank can't...
