it begs the question: just who did they arrest, and why?
A total of 284 people were arrested on the first day, 130 of which are facing felony riot charges...

Cops have the people by the balls because they know how expensive and how big of a pain in the butt it is to fight the charges. Lots of government paid prosecuters, and precious few gov't paid defense attorneys.
